At TIMeS Hospital, the Department of Microbiology plays a critical role in diagnosing and controlling infectious diseases. Our team of skilled microbiologists and lab professionals ensures timely, accurate identification of pathogens—bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites—that affect human health. This department is integral in supporting both inpatient and outpatient care, enabling clinicians to make informed treatment decisions and implement effective infection control measures.
We follow strict protocols and international standards to ensure precision in diagnosis, antimicrobial stewardship, and hospital infection prevention.
Bacteriology – culture and sensitivity testing for blood, urine, sputum, wound swabs, pus, and other samples
Virology – viral marker testing (HIV, HBV, HCV), dengue, COVID-19, influenza, etc.
Mycology – diagnosis of fungal infections including Candida, Aspergillus, dermatophytes
Parasitology – stool and blood tests for intestinal and blood parasites
Tuberculosis testing – AFB staining, CBNAAT, and culture
Serological testing – Widal, ASO, CRP, and other infectious disease markers
Hospital Infection Surveillance – periodic monitoring of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs)
Antibiotic Sensitivity Testing (AST) – for guiding evidence-based antimicrobial therapy
Sterility testing & environmental sampling – for operating theatres and critical care units
Our department is led by qualified microbiologists, backed by trained technologists and lab staff. We work in close coordination with physicians, intensivists, and the Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC) to ensure effective infection prevention practices across the hospital.
